Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarland is encouraging residents to register now to take part in a special household hazardous waste recycling event set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at 306 N. River St. in Aurora.

At this event — made possible through a partnership of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Kane County, DuPage County and the city of Aurora — you can dispose of your household cleaners, fertilizers, pesticides, auto fluids, oil-based paints and stains and much more.

The event is free and open to residents of Illinois.

“We are able to serve up to 1,300 cars on the day of the event, so registration is required,” Jarland said.

“Please follow these guidelines strictly!,” Jarland said. “Do not bring anything that is not on the Accepted Items list!”

Do NOT bring Latex paint to the June 5 HHW recycling event, but do bring it to a future Kane County recycling event or your local Ace Hardware store. See below for details.
