Residential Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day Saturday, March 19, 2022 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (or until maximum limit has been met) The Haverhill Residential Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 40 South Porter Street in Haverhill. PROOF OF RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED (Driver's license/utility bill) ACCEPTABLE LIMITS AND AMOUNTS - 25 Gallons of liquid chemicals - 25 Pounds of dry chemicals ACCEPTABLE ITEMS Oil base paints, stains & varnishes, wood preserves, chemis try sets, paint strippers, thinners, artist supplies, spot remov er, lighter fluid, fuels, gasoline, kerosene, antifreeze, engine degreaser, brake fluid, carburetor cleaner, car wax, polishes, driveway sealer, roofing tar, swimming pool chemicals, poi sons, insecticides, fungicides, chemical fertilizers, weed kill er, moth balls, flea & tick control products, rubber cement, furniture polish, rug & upholstery cleaner, fluorescent light bulbs & ballasts. UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS LATEX PAINT (Dispose of hardened latex paint with trash. Harden paint by removing lid for several days or by adding absorbent cat litter.) Trash, TV's, VCR's computer components, propane cylin ders, car batteries, asbestos, and cell phones. Commercial or industrial wastes, radioactive waste, biological wastes, ammunition, fireworks, explosives, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, prescription medicines/syringes. HOW TO TRANSPORT THESE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS? - Leave material in original containers - Tighten caps and lids - Sort and pack separately: Oil paint. pesticides. and household cleaners - Pack containers in sturdy upright boxes and pad with newspaper - Never MIX chemkals - Pack your car trunk and drive directlyte the site - Pull up to the dumpster, where our staff will remove items from your trunk. Please remain in your vehide. - Never SMOKE while handling hazardous materials
