ACG submits plans for £15m Stoke Newington infill project
Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt’s Manor Road scheme in Stoke Newington
Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt has submitted plans for a mixed-use development on a complex infill site in Stoke Newington, north London.
The £15m Manor Road project is bordered by railway lines to the north, a parade to the south and a grade II-listed Victorian villa to the east.
It features 35 one-, two- and three-bed flats above and behind commercial space fronting on to Manor Road. They include a mixture of duplex and triplex apartments.
An open courtyard inspired by the nearby Allens Gardens is at the heart of the scheme, providing amenity space for residents and promoting biodiversity. This and the circulation spaces have been designed with chance encounters and incidental meetings in mind.

show captionThe 2,060sq m scheme is composed of four separate elements each addressing a different context. The scheme steps up from four storeys along Manor Road to six at the back of the site, providing a buffer to the railway line.
“The proposed street elevation creates order and consistency along the length of the site, responding to and enhancing the street frontage,” said the architects.
London stock bricks are the primary material, using articulated bonding and different mortar colours at key junctions. This, combined with blackened steelwork to balconies and stair-cores, is intended to create rich and varied facades, said the practice.
The plans went it to Hackney council this month.
