100 apprentices sought by Wren Kitchens as it ramps up recruitment to meet unprecedented demand

Wren Kitchens is ramping up recruitment with 100 apprentices being sought by the year-end, and the same again planned for 2022.

The Barton-based giant is continuing to see unprecedented demand for its award-winning products, with new manufacturing facilities and showrooms opening as the workforce soars to more than 7,000.

It is guaranteeing permanent positions for those who complete the programme, with vacancies across the business in diverse roles such as transport, HR, finance, engineering, manufacturing, customer services, IT and kitchen installations.

No experience is required, with the programme a fusion of on-the-job training and interactive courses.

Victoria Fairbairn, Wren Kitchens’ people and performance director, said: “Whether you’re fresh out of college or looking to diversify into a completely different career, our apprenticeships open up long-term career opportunities for those looking to learn new skills and be part of a fast-paced and forward-thinking company.”

The past year has seen it branch out to the USA as it mirrors an incredible growth journey on home soil, from 2009 start-up to more than 100 showrooms and a pan-Humber production hub. The latest addition is a new xena quartz worktop manufacturing facility in Scunthorpe, creating 300 jobs.

And those who are already on the scheme, which provides a “competitive wage above the government’s standard apprenticeship salary” are full of praise for it, with Wren voted the best place to work by Indeed.com.

Beth Russell is a current human resources administrator apprentice. She said: “This has allowed me to learn new skills and open doors to further career paths without any previous experience.

“I enjoy working at The Nest; it’s a really refreshing place to be part of as everyone believes in each other and wants them to achieve the best they can.”

Within the next 18 months, Wren aims to be classed as an employer provider, which means it can deliver apprenticeships internally via the dedicated training teams in the UK and USA.

Daisy Saltmer, Wren Kitchens’ compliance administrator, also went down the apprenticeship route. She said: “I didn’t know where to go with my career and this apprenticeship has opened up so many new opportunities.

“I really enjoy learning on the job because you easily pick-up all the knowledge and skills you need whilst having all the benefits of being an employee.”
