However, the black colour didn’t go with her home’s beachy aesthetic.
She endeavored to create a modern, white stone top coffee table.
First she had to sand back the table slightly to ensure the paint stuck.
She then covered it in Dulux wash and wear paint as a base before gluing the stones glued on top.
Maddison said she was skeptical her idea would work when she saw the stones glued to the top, saying it looked a bit like something out of the Flintstones.
But she continued with her plan, covering the table in grout to fill in the gaps.
“Starting to look more like my vision now,” she said.
All up she spent about $200 on the entire project.
The coffee table from Kmart cost $59, she spent $107 on tiles, the grout was $27 and the tile glue was $9.
She shared a video of how she created the stylish piece to Instagram, inspiring others to do the same.
Maddison has done other DIY projects in the past using furniture bought from Kmart.
She has also created a modern bedside table.
